The friction

I manage Gen Z

Using up all your Claude tokens trying to figure out how to ‘crack’ managing your Gen Z team?

PHASE 1

Most managers are doing their best. They give feedback, run their 1:1s, even throw in ‘no cap’, ‘low-key’ and ‘slay’.

Then one of their star up-and-comers complains about staying past 5pm a few days in a row, and they completely lose it.

PHASE 2

But in reality, it's no one's fault. An HR team warned you about saying the wrong thing in 1:1s.

So now you've got a generation that values honesty and authenticity, looking for you to be straight with them.

Meanwhile you've been coached to be soft and nurturing. To them you seem vague and evasive.

The great news is, it's a solvable problem.
PHASE 3

I sit outside the reporting line, so it's easier to have the conversations you don't feel able to have.

Even ones you think you've already had, but nothing changed.

I have no stake in the politics or hierarchy, so it's a neutral space for your Gen Z team.

1:1 conversations that are personal.
